Trinnov to showcase its new revolutionary technology at ISE

Paris, France – Trinnov Audio will demonstrate its new groundbreaking acoustic processing technology, based on years of research, at ISE 2023 (booth 2D150). In partnership with Krix, Sony & Officina Acustica, this new digital sound field control system makes its debut in an active 13.16.6 channel home cinema system.

The revolutionary new acoustic technology from Trinnov Audio

For the first time, Trinnov will demonstrate its new technology to the public. This innovation takes the fundamental research of Trinnov in acoustics and signal processing to the next level and effectively eliminates room modes.

“In 2023, we officially celebrate our 20th anniversary as a company. It has been an incredible journey so far and we are proud to celebrate this with style, by unveiling yet another groundbreaking technology. This is a major milestone in our development, and it will further reinforce our singularity and leadership for years to come” said Arnaud Laborie, Trinnov co-founder and CEO.

For more than 15 years, Trinnov’s Optimizer has been recognized as the best-in-class loudspeaker/room optimization technology by the most demanding experts across multiple markets, from studios to commercial cinemas and home theaters. The Optimizer’s purpose is to improve the sound reproduction of any loudspeaker in any given acoustic environment. With this major evolution and addition to the Optimizer, we rely even more dramatically on the very fundamental aspects of acoustics and physics.

In its first iteration, this new algorithm uses subwoofer arrays and sophisticated processing to control the acoustics of the room. 20 years after Trinnov’s original breakthrough research work, the French innovators return to their deepest roots and mission of innovating in acoustic field processing. With this break-through, one can truly start talking about Active Acoustics.

“We started research on this very ambitious technology more than 6 years ago. At ISE, we will be demonstrating the technology in an uncompromised environment, delivering the highest possible performance generally expected from Trinnov. Although the technology is fully functional, we will first roll it out selectively, based on specific projects, before offering the finalized software as a complimentary upgrade to Altitude16 and Altitude32 owners. We have reached a point where we believe this new technology has the potential to redefine home theater design. It may well set a new standard, and replace today’s best practices.” added Laborie.

Provided that the minimum required conditions are met, Trinnov claims this innovation can “make the room disappear”.

“Traditionally, low frequency reproduction is handled through a modal analysis where resonances are identified in the frequency domain.  Through our extensive research and unique expertise in 3D acoustic fields, we propose something different. Our disruptive approach seeks to fully understand and control the behavior of the room in all its dimensions (time, frequency and the 3 dimensions of space) so that resonances are removed almost entirely and without artifacts.“

Trinnov explains that in order to achieve such results and aim for optimal performance, one must embrace a holistic approach where every aspect of the system design is understood and carefully considered.

“As our acoustician friends will all agree, you need decent room acoustics to extract the maximum benefit of a technology such as the Optimizer. Similarly, our 3D Loudspeaker Remapping technology requires sensible speaker placement to perform at its best. With this new technology, things are no different. While it will deliver remarkable improvements in most cases, the result will be truly unprecedented with a proper subwoofer implementation in the first place.”

Engineering focused demonstration

To deliver the highest possible performance, Trinnov will demonstrate this groundbreaking innovation in an uncompromised environment. Trinnov is teaming up with a few key partners, starting with long-time and trusted partner Officina Acustica.

Maurizio Conti & Peter Aylett engineered an impressive room that includes 18 seats distributed across three rows. The excellent acoustics and exquisite design Officina Acustica are known for will not disappoint, allowing maximum performance on every level and, combined with Trinnov’s new technology, across every seat.

All loudspeakers and subwoofers are provided by the Australian manufacturer Krix. The screen channels are comprised of Krix’s MX-40 LCR modules. These 3-way, bi-amped speakers feature Krix’s patented horn design, providing a uniform, constant directivity pattern, improved frequency response and extremely low distortion.

Krix’s most versatile surround speaker, the Hyperphonix 45, will be used in sixteen surround and overhead positions around the room to place viewers in the middle of the action.

The Double Bass Array consists of sixteen Cyclonix 18” subwoofers – eight at the front of the room and eight at the back. The immense output available, paired with Trinnov’s latest technology, is sure to provide a unique and visceral experience.

The whole system is driven by four Amplitude16 power amplifiers, showing its full power, capability, and versatility. Surround and overhead speakers are all powered with single-ended channels, whilst screen channels and subwoofers are all bridged.

On the video front, the system uses Sony’s flagship GTZ-380 10,000 lumen laser projector to illuminate a 5.8 meter wide screen. The VPL-GTZ380 is the world’s most advanced compact 4K Laser Projector. Designed and produced by Sony, equipped with native SXRD 4K panels, this projector can reproduce the full DCI-P3 color space without brightness loss. The 10,000 lumens delivered by “Raptor” are obtained through a dual laser light source combining blue and red lasers.

Thanks to Kordz, MadVR, Screen Research, Surgex and Zappit for completing the list of equipment used in this unique demonstration.

Arnaud Laborie to teach and join a panel dedicated to low frequency reproduction

Trinnov will continue its education effort to help integrators make the right design decisions for maximum performance. This implies a sharp understanding of the contribution and limits of each component and their optimal combination. For low frequencies, the optimal design includes individual subwoofer performance, loudspeaker layout, passive acoustics and digital acoustic optimization.

Trinnov will contribute to a CEDIA course series dedicated to low frequency reproduction. Arnaud Laborie, Trinnov CEO, will present “The Double Bass Array – Next Generation Bass” at ISE on Wednesday, February 1, at 12:30 in room CC1.4. This series also includes “Subwoofer Room Gain” by Erik Weiderholtz, Perlisten Audio CTO and “Infra Bass in Private Entertainment Spaces” by Geoffrey Heinzel, Partner at Ascendo Immersive Audio GmbH. Arnaud Laborie will also join the panel session Room Acoustics for Better Bass on Thursday, February 2, at 12:30, chaired by Peter Aylett, Partner at Officina Acustica, that will discuss the best design practices to deliver excellent bass across multiple seats.

We encourage attendees to register for this course series, where they will gain deep, research-based insight to the future of bass in home cinema.

TRINNOV AMPLITUDE16 WINS AN EISA AWARD

Our entire team is delighted to receive yet another award from the European Imaging and Sound Association.

Indeed, the Altitude Platform was honored with an EISA Award in 2020 as Best Product in the Home Theater High-End category. That came 4 years after the Altitude32 received the same award.

To complete our range of AV Processors and Amplifiers, we released the Amplitude16 last year, which we designed specifically to meet the various needs of Immersive Sound.

As modern movie sound formats demand more loudspeakers, system builders need more amplification. Trinnov’s Amplitude16 answers the call, wrapping 16 channels (rated at 200W/8ohm) in a rack-sized, all-metal chassis that’s a smart cosmetic match for its multichannel Altitude16 processor. The unit’s two eight-channel modules, designed in collaboration with Class D specialist ICEPower and fed by independent power supplies, deliver an astonishingly dynamic performance. In practice, the Amplitude16 blends controlled, deep bass with effortless speed and purity of tone – it’s a high-end powerhouse that will get the best from any loudspeaker system, and marks a thrilling addition to the Trinnov fleet – Paul Miller, EISA President

The result is what we aimed for, and we are grateful to see that our efforts are being acknowledged by specialized press, home cinema specialists and enthusiasts.

Performance and sustainability are at the heart of our design philosophy, and we are pleased to be able to offer a complete and consistent package that will increase the overall performance of our customers’ home cinema. The addition of a very cost-effective, high performance and versatile 16-channel power amplifier such as the Amplitude16 to our range of award-winning and industry leading processors is a logical step that increases Trinnov’s impact to the industry. ICEpower has been a great partner and delivered the performance that we required – Arnaud Laborie, Trinnov’s co-founder and CEO.

TRINNOV ANNOUNCES A 16-CHANNEL POWER AMPLIFIER

Trinnov Audio is pleased to announce the release of a new high channel count power amplifier, the Amplitude16.

Designed for immersive home theaters, with custom integration in mind, the Amplitude16 becomes perhaps the most versatile power amplifier available today, providing integrators with the unique ability to meet diverse channel counts and power requirements with exceptional rack efficiency.

Effectively two 8-channel amplifiers on a single 3RU chassis, the Amplitude16 has dual power supplies, each requiring its own 15A AC mains power inlet. In its base model,
it is a 16-channel power amplifier with a continuous power rating of 200W/channel at 8 ohms and 400W/channel at 4 ohms *.

Going beyond, the Amplitude16 provides the integrator with the option to bridge pairs of amplifier channels to increase available power for specific outputs. This enables the integrator to maximize power for the channels with the greatest demand (e.g., left, center, and right screen channels). In bridged mode, the power for one channel increases to 800W/channel at 8 ohms and over 1,000W/channel at 4 ohms. **

When we set out to create a new companion amplifier for Trinnov’s Altitude processors, we recognized that just another power amp would not do. It needed to be something special to carry the Trinnov name, and the Amplitude16 indeed fits that description,” said Arnaud Laborie, Trinnov CEO. “Its unique versatility provides integrators and system designers with a great-sounding, powerful tool for optimizing dynamic power delivery by channel in a space-saving, cost and energy-efficient manner.

Anticipating future advanced applications, another unique feature of the Amplitude16 is its optional Dante input board, which provides an option for connecting the amplifier to any Altitude processor via a network switch. This optional board also includes functions for monitoring the amplifier hardware status.

On a related note, Trinnov Audio is announcing the future compatibility of all Altitude processors with Ravenna/AES67 later this year, as a free update. Dante provides an AES67 compatibility mode, making it easy to integrate Altitude processors with the Amplitude16.

Balanced analog input to the Amplitude16 is enabled through dual Tascam pinout DB25 connectors, which eliminate the need for up to 16 individual XLR connections, making for a much more efficient connection and rack dressing.

Designed in partnership with ICEpower, according to Trinnov specifications, the Amplitude16 maximizes the performance of their class D modules, to deliver outstanding sound quality and the best possible immersive experience in a compact form factor creating very little heat.

The input sensitivity of the Amplitude16 is optimally matched to the output level of Trinnov’s Altitude audio-video processors, maximizing the system’s signal-to-noise ratio and dynamic range. Signal-to-noise performance is typically improved from 6 to 8 dB compared to power amplifiers with conventional input sensitivity.

A front panel LED display identifies normal operation, channel clipping, protection, and bridge status for each pair of channels. Trigger inputs and outputs are provided to power on the amplifier and to daisy-chain other amplifiers in the system.

Initial shipments of the Amplitude16 are scheduled to begin  December 2021.

The optional Dante/AES67 input board is expected later, in 2022. The Amplitude16 will be showcased and introduced to the public at the Paris Audio Video Show from October 21st to October 24th. For more information or to  pre-order contact your local dealer or integrator or go to www.trinnov.com.

* Maximum continuous power with all 16 channels driven is 2800W at 115V and 3200W at 230V with less than 0.1% THD+N

** Peak Power with all channels driven is 6080W with 1% THD+N

TRINNOV ANNOUNCES 4 EXTRA CHANNELS FOR THE ALTITUDE PLATFORM

TWO MAJOR FEATURES ADDED IN THE UPCOMING ALTITUDE SOFTWARE RELEASE

Trinnov’s next software release will add two major features to every Altitude processor that has been installed worldwide since 2015. In yet another industry-leading move, Trinnov announces 4 extra output channels will be added to both the Altitude16 and Altitude32 models completely free of charge.

In addition, Trinnov’s IMAX Enhanced application has now been certified and will now be officially supported in both Altitude models. Both of these major features are expected to become available by mid-October and will be available to Altitude owners through a free software download.

TRINNOV CONTINUES ITS CUSTOMER-FIRST FOCUS

Throughout the Covid-19 crisis, Trinnov has continued to experience unprecedented growth and had the foresight to secure a large stock of critical semiconductors, parts, and components to help buffer the increased demand for Altitude processors this year. Trinnov is committed to maintaining current pricing as long as possible, even though there doesn’t seem to be any foreseeable improvement in the availability of key components.

“Our aim is to help home theater enthusiasts and integrators avoid compromising on their designs and maintain ambitious projects that achieve reference level sound quality”, says Arnaud Laborie, Trinnov Audio co-founder and CEO.

In this software release, every new and existing Altitude owner will get 4 extra outputs and support for IMAX Enhanced, free of charge.

“Our implementation of immersive sound codecs is unrivaled. We have always been committed to high spatial resolution, and we are now taking the extra step to enable this benefit across a higher number of home theater installations by adding four extra discrete and acoustically optimized outputs. Among countless new possibilities, this update now allows Altitude16 owners to support the very popular 9.4.6 speaker layout and maximize low frequency and 3D sound performance with our fully integrated calibration suite.” continues Arnaud Laborie.

Altitude16 Now Supports 20 Discrete Optimized Channels

Enabling this feature on the Altitude16 presented a challenge and required some creativity. One of Trinnov’s engineers suggested converting the Toslink output of the Altitude16 to ADAT. ADAT is a well-known transport protocol in the professional and production music industry that allows the carriage of four channels at up to 96 kHz. With this approach, Altitude owners can enable four extra outputs with the addition of a simple external D/A converter.

On all Altitude32 models, these extra outputs will be available via the built-in AES/EBU outputs.

“For both Altitude models, our customers will need to source a Digital / Analogue converter.  By enabling 4 extra outputs free of charge through a simple software update, this upgrade not only opens new perspectives but also enables dramatic audio improvements within a lower budget,” concludes Arnaud Laborie.

IMAX ENHANCED

After months of certification testing, Trinnov is pleased to officially announce the availability of IMAX Enhanced on the Altitude platform.

The availability of IMAX Enhanced on the Altitude comes in a timely fashion, as new announcements are expected from IMAX that will result in a much larger amount of IMAX Enhanced native content becoming available. IMAX Enhanced content playback relies on DTS:X technology, taking full advantage of Trinnov’s unique implementation of the Neural:X upmixer, which offers the maximum number of discrete speaker channels available in the DTS:X Pro specification.

Procella Audio Upgrades the Classic P6 Speaker Family: P6 MkII and P6V MkII Now Shipping

– Both speakers feature a new Neodymium high frequency compression driver

– Upgraded crossover design maximizes advantage of new tweeter

– P6 Mk II sports a new look with full front baffle grille

Stockholm, Sweden and Venice, California – May 19, 2021 – Procella Audio, manufacturer of high-performance, high-definition speaker systems for home and professional cinema and music applications, announced today that its highly popular P6 family of loudspeakers has been upgraded with the release of the P6 Mk II and P6V Mk II. These new speakers have improved sound quality through the use of a new 1 inch Neodymium compression driver for high frequencies and a new crossover design. Both models can be utilized as main and surround channel speakers, and the P6 Mk II is also used as the mid and high frequency module of the full-range P610 loudspeaker.

Producing identical sound quality, both models share speaker and crossover components. The speakers are differentiated by the orientation of the speaker cabinets. The P6 Mk II is wider than it is tall, where the P6V Mk II is taller than it is wide. While the P6 Mk II is typically used as a main channel speaker, the P6V Mk II is more often used as a surround channel speaker or as a main speaker located next to a display or screen. Compared to the earlier P6 versions, the width of the P6 Mk II and the height of the P6V Mk II have been slightly increased to 12 inches/305mm. Both versions have a shallow cabinet depth of only 4.9 inches/125mm.

The new version of the P6 Mk II also features upgraded cosmetics. Its speaker grille now covers essentially the entire front baffle, rather than just the speaker’s woofer driver, matching the appearance of the P6V and the P6V Mk II.

“The P6 has been one of our best-selling loudspeakers because of its great value and its suitability for multiple applications as a main or surround channel speaker. With its new compression driver and crossover, the sound quality of the P6 Mk II edges even closer to that of our reference standard P8, stated Procella founder and designer Anders Uggelberg. “I’m really pleased with the improvement in transparency and detail.”

Unlike typical home theater loudspeakers in this price category, both models use a professional audio compression driver in place of the commonly-used dome tweeter for reproducing high frequencies. Dome tweeters work well in small rooms and limited dynamic range material, but can suffer from output limitations, dynamic compression and limited coverage when used in medium to large theaters with multiple seats. Compression drivers have greater sensitivity and power handling than dome tweeters, and can therefore produce much greater output without limitations. The new Neodymium compression driver of the P6/P6V Mk II is mounted on Procella’s proprietary constant directivity waveguide, which provides a consistent and smooth high frequency response across the listening area, in both the horizontal and vertical axes.

To maximize performance Procella has designed a new, improved Identical Voices™ crossover for the P6/P6V Mk II. A high-output 6.5 inch woofer with a 40mm voice coil completes the design. Both are timbre-matched to all Procella loudspeakers, making them suitable for use as part of any Procella speaker configuration.

A black painted finish with removable black fabric grille is standard. A simple to install hanging bracket for flush mounting to walls is included. The P6V Mk II has an additional mounting option with back baffle integral threaded inserts in the VESA 100 x 100 pattern.

MSRP for both models remains unchanged at 19 250:- SEK. Now shipping from the Procella Audio factory in Sweden, U.S. deliveries will begin by the end of June 2021.
